BMX Riders Organize

8/21/09 (San Francisco, CA) – The Tony Hawk Foundation has learned that BMX riders have created an advocacy group to promote the construction of BMX-friendly skateparks, to increase BMX access to existing skateparks, and to create other legal, hassle-free places for people to ride.

The BMX Riders Organization (BRO) is a nonprofit group dedicated to providing information and assistance to those seeking public facilities for BMX freestyle. Its main focus is skateparks, but BRO members also believe that the same approach can be used to get sanctioned dirt jumping facilities and flatland spots.

BRO promises to tackle these issues with a fresh perspective and will work closely with its skateboarding counterparts like the Tony Hawk Foundation and Skaters For Public Skateparks to ensure its success. BRO will soon launch a new Web site with lots of information, including literature, statistics, news, and schedules of events.

BMX riders are encouraged to get involved on the ground floor of something big, sustainable, and deeply important. Even one hour a week can make all of the world of difference. Contact BRO for more information: recruit@bmxriders.org
