

If the city where you live suddenly announces, without any prompting from local skateboarders, that it has decided to build a free public skatepark, then you are very fortunate indeed. Most
communities are not so enlightened--at least not yet. Instead, your only recourse probably will be to create your own grassroots movement that gains so much momentum the city will have no choice
but to build a skatepark. That means you have to get organized, draw up a detailed plan of attack, then do a lot of hard work to make sure those plans get carried out. Skaters everywhere grit
their teeth when they hear that the best way to get a skatepark built is to take a well planned, business-like approach, but often that's the only chance they have of getting their own skatepark.
